Legal Notices

Formal, well-documented notices that put infringers, hosts and platforms on record, and give you a clear paper trail.

Often the fastest way to stop infringement is a clear written notice. It tells the other party exactly what they are doing, why it violates your rights and what you expect them to do. A good notice also creates evidence: it shows when you objected and what the recipient knew.

We prepare notices for a range of situations and recipients, from individual infringers to hosting companies, domain registrars and marketplaces. Notices are drafted for issue in your name, or through your counsel, with a complete evidence pack behind them.

Tone matters. Some disputes call for a firm demand; others are resolved faster with a courteous reminder. We match the approach to your goals.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a lawyer to send a legal notice?

Many notices, such as DMCA takedown notices and platform complaints, can be sent by the rights holder or its authorized agent. For litigation threats, complex disputes or matters with significant financial exposure, involving an attorney is wise.

What if I’ve received a notice or cease-and-desist letter?

Do not ignore it, and do not panic. We can help you understand the claim, gather the facts and organize a response for you or your attorney to review, and we will tell you when the stakes call for an attorney.

Will a notice stop the infringement?

Often, especially when the recipient is a legitimate business or platform. But there are no guarantees, and some recipients ignore notices. That is why we plan the next step in advance.

Can you send notices to hosting providers and registrars?

Yes. When an infringer cannot be reached, hosts, CDNs and registrars can often act on properly documented complaints.
